A new technology of SKF bearings to reduce carbon dioxide em
As part of BeyondZeroTM sustainable development plans, SKF Bearings has adopt a series of methods to reduce carbon dioxide emissions of its factories and reduce energy consumption. Now the factories of SKF Bearing Group are carried out this new technology. Examples shows that manufacturing operations for each year up to conserve energy as much as 60GWh. This is equivalent to energy consumption of 72,000 Sweden's families per month.
SKF bearings now has 13 factories installed pump and motor performance with more efficiency, the new heat treatment and energy recovery systems to recover "waste heat" and the new exhaust system used in reduce the compressed air, and also installed energy-efficient lighting device. The total of energy saving is about 24GWh.
The most energy-efficient improvements are reflected in the production line. To reduce the use of compressed air provide the highest possible for g energy saving. However, processing and assembly can also bring big savings, factory audit showed that each plant can save about 5% of the entire energy consumption. To achieve this goal, a series of measures have been taken. One example is to use Mechanical and Electrical actuators of SKF bearings to replace pneumatic linear actuator of positioning machines, in this way, each machine can save 35% energy.
New technologies have a significant contribution to the future energy conservation. the effect of Heat Treatment Technology in Gothenburg shows that material distortion bet greatly reduced. This also means that the production require less energy.
The whole SKF bearings group can be estimated that the annual can save energy 60GWh, more than 2% of present energy consumption.
